HOW TO JOIN THE TEAM
Qualified applicants for the Morongo Basin Search and Rescue Team are always welcomed. You must be 18 years old with a
high school diploma and a valid California drivers license. To become a team member, you must attend three consecutive
team meetings, submit a detailed application packet, pass a background check, attend an oral interview, be elected as a
team member by a quorum vote of the team membership and pass a complete medical check. You must also become NASAR certified
as a Search and Rescue Technician II within one year of submitting the packet. Members must equip themselves with personal
survival equipment, clothing and gear necessary to accomplish their mission. Average start-up cost is on average $400,
but most members spend much more than that on specialized gear.
Team business meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM at the Yucca Valley Community Center. Trainings are held on a monthly basis and are scheduled in advance. Members are notified of place and time at general business meetings. Individuals interested in joining the team are invited to attend the monthly business meetings.
